sorry for my stupid question, but does the new ssn only affect those with no ssn at all?? i already have a ssn because i am a visa overstay will i still have the same number or have to get a new one?

You can keep the same one, unless it is marked "not valid for employment" or something like that.

yah it has that "not valid for employment without work permit" or something like that stamp on it. does that mean i can apply for a new ssn?? and it wouldent have a stamp on it? i mean do i have to or do i have a choice in this. reason im asking is because i really want to start my credit from scratch i would love that!

I sent my letters about 2-3 weeks ago. Today I got a letter from Equifax that my report had been transferred to my new SSN.

I received a credit report from TransUnion today. They successfully transferred my credit history.

Im guessing all of you used the ITIN number to establish credit.
I used a made up SSN. Thats why I dont know if I should send the credit bureaus that letter.
Advice???
