ACHIEVE Act-Alternative to DREAM act....proposed by a REPUBLICAN (Say what?)

"The bill being floated would apply to undocumented immigrants who came to the United States before the age of 14 as long as they are under the age of 28, if they have no college degree. If they are college-educated, the age limit is 32, according to the Daily Caller. The Dream Act, by contrast, would allow immigrants to apply so long as they came before the age of 16 and are currently under the age of 30.

Both plans require an immigrant to show good moral character, maintain a felony-free criminal record, and live in the U.S. for five consecutive years before the bill's enactment -- assuring foreign nationals will not enter the country now simply to apply."

They're gonna try to pass it by the end of this year!!! Looks like Santa may have brought some EXTRA presents this year!

That's great news! Last year it would have passed if it wasn't for election year!
This whole W-1 visa crap is total BS! we don't want a fuck*** visa! this is our home! ASSHOLE!!!!
And if you have been following the dream act as long as I have you would know it was a republican who created the earliest version of the bill so there's hope!
hopefully this "lame duck" session includes the real DREAM act approval

Omg I really hope you read both articles thoroughly. Its very VERY disturbing. It's nothing like the DREAM Act, although similar in essence of requirements (besides the age), it's actually much more restricting and quite ludicrous i say.

this bill has so many flaws!!
I hope this idiot doesn't think he's actually helping us.
First of all you can't get any visa while you are in the united states. Visa are only given by embassy and to get this "visa" would mean leaving the United States

After 4 years of school and 4 years of work - then you can marry someone to get PR status???? WOW!!!

So guys, when you get your EAD in the mail, do you just go to the SS office and request a SSN?

Yes you got it right. You should ask for a print out of your number (hopefully they will provide it on the spot) cause it usually takes about two weeks to be mailed to you. With that you can go ahead and apply for a Driven Licence (if you don't have one).
Good luck my dear!

I actually didn't know that! But are you talking about the original that came out like ten years ago? lol Things were different back then. I personally wouldn't mind a visa. Although, I do prefer the EAD that DACA is giving us. Regardless of whether this passes or not, it's nice to see that they are actually trying to come up with stuff, not just saying that they want to. It just may take em a couple tries till they come up with something worthwhile. hah
