Are they the least busiest in the mornings or before they close?

That 10 day wait doesn't apply anymore. Just go to your SS office as soon as you get your EAD in the mail.

Cali SSA no ten day rule just walk in as soon as you get your EAD. Bring your proper identification. If you get there right when it opens you have a higher chance of waiting less! I got there roght when they opened an there were hella people in there already. Wait time wasnt too bad. 30-40 minutes wait. Once youre in it goes pretty quick. Expect a receipt to be given that tells you that you will get your ssn 7-10 days. that is all!

It took me like 10 minutes when I came. I was called already when I was filling out the form. Just try to go early I applied Thursday and I got it in the mail Monday. It's really quick.

It only took me like 20 min. I went like 30 after they opened was I had to wait like 15 numbers ahead of me but they were taken care rather quickly. The guy that took care of my case didn't even ask me questions, I just handed him my birth certificate, ead, app filled out I got from website, and my ticket number. He just gave me a smirk and said oh you are from Tijuana, maybe he had fun down there, lol. Other than that it was a rather ey process. And even though I want to get a printout to get my license I think I will wait since I'm kinda busy this week

Took me about 15-20 minutes total. I waited about 10 to be called then another 5-10 with the officer.

Everyone was friendly, I wanted my middle name spelled out and they fixed it for me without any hassles.
I went to the SSA office in downtown Chicago
