I thought you aren't allowed to carry an ID AND a DL. When I asked if I could get a FL ID they said it's not allowed if I'm applying for a new DL.

Here in Florida you're not allowed to have both

i had a strange experience when i was applying for my SSN today...

today is my 10th day. i didn't have to wait because just as i prayed, it came right as my 10th day came. it came on a saturday which was my 8th day, and so today was the first business day i could go, making it my 10th day.

so anyway i wait 2 and a half hours at the lakewood, ca ssa and finally my number gets called. i presented my ead and my passport, and the guy asked if i had my birth certificate. i said yes, and he wanted to see it instead of my passport. and so my heart is pumping waiting for the words "oh you're not verified yet," or something of the sort but instead he says:

"oh, immigration didn't defer you yet..." i say what? "the people that sent you this card didn't defer you yet. they didn't do anything yet."

i'm thinking omg... what does that mean? i didn't see that in the forum... so i expected the worst, and i assumed it meant that i wasn't verified in the system. he goes back i guess the make copies of my stuff, and comes back, punches stuff from my application into his computer, and hands me a paper. the first thing i do is check to see if theres the dreaded "reference number" sure enough there was, but heres the thing. he just told me to look over the info to make sure everything is right, and spelled right, and i gave it back to him with the corrections.

however... when everything ended, he said ok, you should get your card in about 2 weeks, and instead of handing me the paper with the reference number, he hands me a receipt that says my card should be mailed within 2 weeks, with no reference number...

he didn't say anything about having to resubmit my application after a holding period... or anything of the sort... but in the beginning he said "immigration didnt defer me" and he did have a paper with a reference number on it... so i got factors from both situations? what does this mean?!!

with panic and confusion going through my head... my stupid self didn't even think to clarify if i could get a prinout a few days later, or clarify weather it was a verified or not verified situation...

my experience had so many mixed signals from both situations that i was expecting reading through the forum...

anyone else had the same experience? please help~ inputs please

I had the same thing happen to me. First, the lady gave me a paper with a ref number on it and wanted me to verify all the information and in the end she kept that paper and handed me a different one without a ref number that said my SSN should arrive in 2 weeks... I asked her when I should request a printout and she said I could request it in 48 hours... I applied for a SSN today, by the way.
