When I filled out the application I only put my father's last name and on my receipts it had my fathers last name, but when I received my card it had both my moher's and father's last name but on my sister's card it she has only my father's last name. I'm very disappointed should I ask them to fix it? Can I just go the SS office and ask them to use my fathers last name. Too names creates confusion.

Do you have both last names? does your SS card have them and what about your DL?

My DL and passport have both names. My banks statements have just my paternal name. I only put my paternal name when asked about last name and put both names when asked about other names used. Everything else I used paternal name. Did your foreign Id or anything to proof your identity have both names?

Yeah how exactly is that decided? I noticed when the young lady was inputting my info into the computer when I went to do my bio, she left out my second last name which I thought was interesting since I wrote down both on my application. Interested to see how it'll appear in my EAD.

Technically, they are supposed to put both last names, because that is how a foreign birth certificate reads. So, now, everything has both last names because it is easier for them to identify that as my name. I think they did you a favor.

Your EAD name is printed exactly as how you submitted your name in your application.

My matricula and passport contain both last names, but I submitted my application with only my dad's last name.

My EAD arrived exactly how I wanted it: First name and dad's last name.

I hate having both last names because then confusion arrives: they think my dad's last name is my middle name and my mom's last name is my paternal last name.

+1, my ead only has my paternal last name as it is how I have filled out paperwork once I came to the U.S. and the times I have put it down it has created the confusion that its a middle name, so I never use it.

I did print my name exactly like I wanted it on the app with my paternal last name. and when I called USCIS the first time they said the same thing. but when I received it had both last names. The receipts were correct and the approval notice was incorrect. I called them again and asked them to expedite. I hope it works.

EAD/SS/ID appear as my passport with two last names. I'm going to my local probate court next week to have a legal name change and remove my second last name.
