So I was approved today. I have one concern, maybe someone might have an answer. Back in 2000 I was able to get a DL, i used a made up social when I applied for my permit during Drivers ed in high school.(Didn't know what else to do) When I went to the DMV they never asked for anything besides my permit and school I.D. I got a letter in 2007 stating that my license was canceled because they weren't able to verify my social. I'm wondering if I am going to be able to get a new DL with my new social.

Thanx

another member had to pay extra $70 because the system showed he was sent to court for driving without a DL years ago...I went to court 3 times and I was expecting to pay that extra $70, but it they never said anything to me when I got my DL. weird stuff on different DMVs I suppose.
Well, I tried issuing both DL and State ID over at 9901 S MLK Dr and was only able to issue a State ID, the people at that location were very respectful. Having to pay a reinstatement fee I was sent to 14434 Pulaski Rd and that is where I took the tests and got the DL. To reinstate your DL, if you have to, you need to go to a certain DMV location, they will tell you. I got to 14434 around 315 PM and the whole thing took about two hours. Aside from the lady who processed my application and the Driving instructor being hard asses, the other attendants were very easy to deal with.

And yes I agree with you on your last point, I am guessing because I was pulled over in January of this year and got ticketed for driving without a DL, is the reason why I got that "suspension" on my record. When I needed to go to court, I hired a lawyer, paid my fines and I thought it was all over. To be honest, who the hell knows, I tried squeezing the truth out from the people at the DMV and they wouldn't give me a concrete answer, they just wanted to know if I was paying cash or credit (they don't take VISA).

Best.

And I got caught two more times again (these times over 18 and my permit had long expired and never produced it at the time of getting stopped).

That is why I anticipated paying that fee.
So you got ur SSC in two weeks? you give me hope! it will be 2 weeks this fri since i applied for the ssc. I am gettin concerned since more ppl here got theirs after 4 or 5 days. I applied on nov 9th.

I strongly do not recommend anyone go to the DMV located at the Thompson Center in downtown Chicago.

I tried testing my luck at getting a state ID today with my SSN Printout, and everyone was just so rude. Not to mention how packed it was. I probably would have waited 4 hours if i had stayed.

When I showed my passport to the man checking my documents, he inspected it as if it were fake. Apparently he never heard of a country named Uruguay.
He then almost yelled at me and questioned my status saying I don't have a visa stamped on my passport and that I don't qualify for an ID.

I showed him my EAD and still he said I couldn't get an ID without a visa stamped on my passport. WEELL too bad I renewed it and no longer have the original.

Going next week to a different place.

Ew. Why are people so rude? Well I wish you luck at the next DMV. Although the info on this thread did say no SSN printouts were accepted. Maybe that's why the guy gave you a hard time? Although personally if he had raised his voice at me.. I don't understand why people can't be civil sometimes.

I have no idea either. And no he didn't have an issue with my printout, it was my passport he didn't approve off! I don't understand how ignorant uneducated people get hired in those places.

I got my state id at Thompson Center. It was super easy, in and out in less than half hour. Illinois doesnt take printouts so you should've saved yourself your time.

What ever names are printed on your EAD, will be printed on your DL

you dont fill out a form, they do everything for you.

printouts are not accepted at DMVs in IL

You do not need to take your passport.

This is what you need:

EAD (this proves identity)
SSN letter (this proves SSN and address)
Deferred Action approval letter (this proves address)

take above items and no one will give you a problem
