She has a Korean passport. Yea, she says it should be okay, mentioned that her friends had done it before. But just wanted to make sure. Thanks!

I have travelled on a passport without a visa. At that time I had been here so long that the expired visa was attached to the expired passport. There was no problem travelling with the new passport. Of course, your mileage may vary. Since this is San Diego, driving there through the highway checkpoint is probably riskier than flying.

Well i've been traveling with just my mexican passport and no one has stopped me, checked me or inspected me. If its domestic its non of TSA's bussines unless they find you suspicious. I am EWI and travelled before DACA. But there is always a small risk. I think she should be fine as ling as shes calm and acts normal.

*facepalm* only US citizens can have a US passport lol...

Btw this is a hard call.. There are many people who are undocumented who use a foreign passport with no trouble but there are also people who have gotten stopped by TSA and brought ICE over due to an expired visa.. Back in a couple of months I was going to fly to Vegas with my valid foreign passport but decided not to risk it mainly because my grandma who came to visit us from my country of birth and a month before I was going to Vegas she traveled abroad the u.s. from NY to Michigan and after she got there I called her up and asked her how everything went and she said they checked her visa when she was boarding the plane.. Which is why I canceled.. There are people who do travel but there are times you will get stopped and asked about your visa.. And if that happens.. You're screwed.. I'd advice your mom not to risk it. Best of luck my friend.

i've flown a lot over the past 5 years and have never been questioned just using a valid passport. although i guess there's always a small risk. and i've never flown out of san diego..

i usually fly out of LAX, LGB, or ONT... no problems there.. or returning from my destinations.

From where have you traveled?

I'm in McAllen, TX really close to the border and there are ice agents checking turist visas and permits when you get on a greyhound bus just to go to the next town so I am really worried about traveling by plane.

I bought a ticket to fly during christmas holiday a few months back thinking I would have my EAD in hand, but I'm really starting to freak out. Everyone says its fine, but they are flying from huge cities I live in a mid size town of around 100K. I don't know what to do I was really excited thinking I could just board with my passport while DACA was still under "initial review," but now I'm really scared.

Anyways if anyone has flown from Mcallen, Brownsville, Harlingen or another "small" town I would love to know how it went. I've got a passport so that's no issue, except its mexican.

Thanks for any info.

I've traveled from Newark international airport ny/nj to San Fransico California to Portland Oregon to Seattle Washington. I just showed my passport with no trouble. They will not do anything to you at all and even if they do stop you they cant deport you because you are under DACA. I girls from here got stopped in a Canada border highway because her boyfriend took the wrong exit in Michigan and then she got stopped and released since thats when DACA became active. Dont worry. act normal. you are normal. relax and enjoy your trip. People here try to freak other people out. like this idiot
" If you have a Mexican valid Passport they're going to ask for the permit. period "

FALSE!!! I never was asked for a permit at all.

Hmm. I believe McAllen is very close (within 25 miles) to the border. My coworkers in Monterrey drive there to shop all the time with just a border crossing card. Border crossing cards issued to Mexicans only allow people to travel 25 miles inside the U.S. border, so I do expect checkpoints on every avenue (land and air) out of McAllen.

I wouldn't travel out of McAllen to the U.S. interior without valid immigration documents.
