id/dl/ss/ confussion

so, i got my ead card in the mail on 11-14, went ahead to the ss office and apply for a ss card guy told me it hasnt been 10 days so he kept everything and told me once the 10 days are up they will submit my application, so then i read in the forum that to get ur ID they didnt ask for ss, just with the ead card you can do it, so i just got back from the DPS, the lady put in my ead card number and nothing would come back then they called the manager and nothing was coming up has we were waiting for the manager to check that i ask the lady well im probably gonna get my ss card durin this week i cam just come back i just wanted my ID for identification, but i would prefer the DL, she said the ss has nothing to do, she also told me if the card would of been verify u could also get ur DL you dnt want to wait for ur ss, we just make u sign a paper that states ur waiting for ur ss to arrive, so anyways...they couldnt verify my ead card so the manager told me sometimes if ur card is new the system doesnt verify it right away so what we do is contact immigration and verify ur ead card then we mail u a letter that everything is ok and to come finish ur DL or ID process, he said that my ead card said "pending"
i dnt know if im the only one that has had this issue or should i contact immigration? and ask?
btw i live in houston tx

Hmm I know lots of people here have gotten their SSN and DL with just their approval letters. Did you try using your approval letters?

yes, bcuz in the approvel letters it has the same numbers printed in the ead card, so they verify both match and they said that in their computer my ead card number kept saying pending

Oh yeah thats an issue. A lot of people have been denied jobs and whatnot because their status are still pending. I would give it a few days and try again. With Obama winning lots more people are applying and slowing down the systems

Basically he didnt get his stuff because he didnt check with the system as hes still "fresh"

What state are you from? In CA, you don't need the SS card, but you need to know the Ss number and have the EAD card in hand.

I also live near Houston, I'm not sure if you saw some of my posts about me going to get my ID. I went about 8 days after my initial approval to the DPS office and had no problem. I didn't even see if they checked it in the USCIS system, all I saw them doing was scanning as if they were making a copy of it.
