It should be, it was for me and that's all that is required for a non-citizen applying for an ssn card for the first time, but some people here have been asked for a birth certificate an ead and a valid passport. I doubt that will happen to you though so just go.

So I just got out of the SSO...wasn't verified in the system yet.

Guy filled everything out for me ans said that they have to send my stuff to immigration and I should hear from them in 4 weeks. But that if I get verified before I should get something before then. I asked if I could just cancel the whole thing and come back in a few days...he said he can, but if he did and then if im still not verified the next time I come in it would take even longer. Oh well...more waiting.

He did give me a number to call. So I can check later if I got verified. Nebraska - get your act together! lol

I hope I get something before January...I want to put my SSN on my grad school stuff so I can get my stipend for books. #poorcollegestudent

Has anyone had this happen and gotten anything before the 4 weeks?

Yeah as long as the birth certificate is in english. They didn't look at my birth certificate because it wasent in English but took my passport. was a breeze

Guess I'll post here.. I went to the SS office on December 5, got my card on Monday, December 10.

I only brought my renewed passport, and my EAD.

No other questions asked.

Hello guys, i went to the social security office yesterday December 10! i asked if i could come back and get a print out of my ss#, but the guy who help me out said no because i haven't been assigned a number yet! he said it sually takes a month to process a ss#. Then i told him, can i come back next week to see if i have been a assigned a number; and he said no. I guess i will just need to wait!!

i applied on tuesday december 4 and got it mondayy it was a fast process i didnt even do an aplication the lady did it on her computer in less than 5 min
