I have been waiting for my SSC for more than 3 weeks and still didn't receive it yet. I called yesterday and I was told to wait 4-6 weeks... Is this true? What should I do?

If you called and they told you to wait, that's what you do.

Not sure where to post this SSN question, so I'm posting it here. I hope it doesn't bother anyone ><

I got an SSN before I overstayed my visa, but it wasn't valid for employment, though it was a valid SSN. If and when I'm approved for EAD/DACA, does that mean I should go to the Social Security office to get a new card before I go to the DMV to apply for a drivers license? Or would providing my SSN to the DMV without the actual card with me suffice?

I'm just not sure whether Social Security would update my file automatically to indicate that the SSN is now valid for employment or whether I'd have to do it myself

i guess i am having bad luck. I was approved on 11/14 applied for SSN on 11/26. I wasn't verified on the spot so i got the receipt with reference number and 4 weeks wait time. tried calling all week to get update but each time i got "all representatives are currently busy. please try your call again later". called national line and they told me I have to contact the office where I applied.
so today its been more than 2 weeks already so went to the office again. they told me they resubmitted my case electronically on 12/10 and if it doesn't get verified within ten days then they will have to mail physical copies to DHS and wait until they verify it and send it back to them. fml

You can go to the DMV the instant you get your EAD card. The SSN will be the same, so waiting for a new SSN card is pointless. You'll still have to do that, but you won't need it to go to the DMV.

If the DMV worker says you need your card, especially in CA, just go to another one. Many of us weren't asked for the card as we wrote down the number in the application prior to reaching the DMV employee.
