Such a sad day. I feel sick....

I feel so bad for the fallen teachers who are heroes. My heart is with the fallen kids and their families.

Two cents: What if a person takes too much pcp and goes on a shooting spree? What if they're just too high and do something stupid like that Adam lanza guy? Mental illness is not always the only cause....thus, gun control (restrictions) is worth trying. Something has to be done...I don't know what will work, but something has to be done.

Doesn't matter how he seems. Something has to be mentally wrong with someone to just go out and shoot a bunch of people. That he might not have been seeing a medical professional doesn't mean he was mentally well otherwise we would hear about these shooting sprees weekly like we hear about other killings in gangs but that isn't the case. Usually they happened once in a while and they tend to be carried out by a mentally unstable person.

Also recent reports suggest he wasn't likely in the best state of mind. Even if he was mentally fine, this doesn't reflect the majority of these types of occurrence. Most of the shooters were not in a healthy state(Columbine, Virginia Tech, NIU, Batman screening recently, etc.)

Something is usually wrong with a person who goes on a shooting spree. If there was ever someone mentally fine trying to practice genocide, it might have been Hitler, but certainly not the majority of these recent occurrences of tragedy. The main cause in these things has been mental illness and I suggested why people like this might be going through the cracks of that in my previous post.

You know people kill innocent people, there's a navy base out in Las Vegas. People drive out every morning from their homes every morning after eating breakfast with their family and go to work. Once they get there, they sit in a chair and just shoot missile fires and artillery fire with mechanical drones over in the middle east, killing people, innocent or not, it's still surprising how easy it is to just go on with it...

Anyways, my point is..people are ill psychologically, the rest of the world is too, while everyone is getting mad for the sick environment we live in.

Well that is very sad indeed particularly for Adam Lanza. Hails from an affluent, well respected, well educated family. I believe there is a mental issue connected to him as you correctly pointed out. But I'm sure there are mentally unstable people in other countries. Why don't we hear of things like this happening there? Maybe we don't get the news? Surely we would get Canadian news but till date I haven't heard of something like this happening in Canada. The reason is a combination of both issues.

Another point, most of the people who have done the shootings since Columbine are existentialist. Meaning they dont believe in a greater power, and since they dont believe in eternal life/punishment that feel like their actions would have no consequences. Like a priest said at a conference one, "all these cartel members in Mexico were partly created because of a bad home/not love/abuse by their close members/family/society" According to the media he was angry at his mom.

Anti gun hippies are having a good 24 hrs right now.
Sadly, as one member said, guns aren't the problem, it's mentally ill people and how easy they acquire access to these guns.

Sucks glad there were no losses, hope this moves politicians and most importantly people to ask for gun safety and extensive background checks before anyone can just acquire one.

Chicago is the only city to ban concealed weapons and is very difficult to buy one legally (extensive wait time and background checks), yet we have the highest murder rate in the nation and gun violence is very high.

So all these gun regulations are not effective at all.
