Okay so i have a question my mother was driving tonight and unfortunately drove right into a checkpoint, the cop pulled her off to the side gave her a ticket for driving without a license he said all the info would be mailed to her, my cousin had to go get her and drive her car home. What i am wondering is what can or will happen my mother doesn't have papers either. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

She's lucky she didn't get her car impounded and stored for 30 days! So on top of the ticket, you'd have to pay the towing and storage fees, that avg around 1500-2000k. She will just have to show up in traffic court as listed on ticket. Go and pay ticket and its over. No "biggie" other than the ticket, probably around $350-500. Mine was $475 lol

Worst that could happen is she just pay a ticket for not having a DL. Not that serious, unless she's been pulled over a lot.

Luckily thanks to the law passed last year she didn't get her car impounded. If you guys didn't know, police officers cannot impound your car for not having a license if stopped at a checkpoint. The law was sponsored by Cedillo last year and Governor Brown signed it. Here is the link just in case you guys don't believe me.. Lol..

I hate these damn checkpoints. Isn't the purpose of them to find drunk drivers? I wasn't aware that a license tells the cops if you're drunk or not.

Seems like they grab up whatever they can get i am just glad the cop wasn't a dick and called border patrol. He went as far as saying that hopefully the laws change soon so she can get her papers.
