just got back from trips to SS office and DMV today,

not too bad, did not make any appointments, 2 hrs at SS office, 1 hr at DMV (even helped a newcomer to fill out a form)

SS office was pretty simple, showed them my EAD card and the SS card.
got a receipt, and just need to wait in the mail for the new updated card with the same number.
(did not fill out any form, she just asked me for my address and phone number)

iDream, i think it doesn't matter which you pick to go first, just need to get up a bit early.
What I did was SS office then DMV, let me know how it went too since we are pretty much on the same pace.

I know that, my whole question was mainly for applying for a state DL and whether the DMV will take my SSN as is or will i have to get it renewed.

Well the reason why is because i want to take my written test before getting my SS situated. And i was wondering whether the DMV will accept my SSN card as is or will i have to get it renewed. But ill try next week and see how it goes.

you dont need to show them SS card at DMV though, only EAD card.
