so a little update on my DACA app

I turned in my application at the end of august, did my biometrics on october.

I started getting anxious this month since it's been awhile since I have heard about my application, when I contacted our lawyer, he said I was lacking documents that our application to renew my mom's work visa was rejected (I came here as a dependent of my mom's work permit). My first reaction was "wtf lawyer, why didnt you tell me that earlier, why do I have to contact you first then I could have sent it ASAP?!"

Anyways, we turned in our rejection letter and our lawyer was like "oh btw, this would take 3 months to process so you would have to wait for a response on March"

umm is this normal? I guess my case is a little more complicated since I am an overstay but come on, we already sent a copy of our expired visa last Aug, can't these people tell that I am overstay since DUH my visa has expired.

I have to wait 3 more months? Im getting disappointed since Im seeing people in this site who got their EADs the same month they turned it in. I really thought I would get my permit by the end of the year and already started lining up jobs. Now I have to turn them down. I am tired of turning down opportunities since I have been doing that for years now.

sorry for the rant, just frustrated by what my lawyer said. I was against getting one but my dad insisted, even though he's a newbie lawyer, because his parents are in my dad's church group.

welcome to the club. There are few who are waiting for long time including me. Your lawyer said March because that is the six month period. They are "suppose" to make your DACA decision within 4 to 6 months (however it could take longer)

You sent in a copy of your expired passport on DACA. So, why do you need an extra 3 months for your mother's rejection?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but they never mentioned 4-6 months as the official timeline.

We're screwed.

They did say in numerous phone sessions and interviews that it could take 4-6 months.

I'm a little confused as to what your lawyer meant when he said that you were "lacking documents." As far as I know regardless of whether or not you were trying to renew your expired visa, as long as you were out of status on June 15, 2012, then there shouldn't be any confusion between the two cases. What does your case say on the USCIS website? Has your lawyer received any paperwork from USCIS? I'm just curious as to why he thinks that both cases are related.
