I think that you have to take the permit test again because if you never actually got a license then the permit expires after 1yr and you have to start the process again from the beginning(pay the fee, eye exam, etc..) So it won't matter if you had the permit 1 1/2 yrs ago or 10yrs a go you let the permit expire so you have to start all over.

Yes this is correct, I have to take both driving and written test. The lady said it expires after 1 year.

Already passed the written, got a permit, didn't really study, but the questions on the written are always easy (for me atleast).

There were some questions as to why im getting it so late, but they were just wondering nothing major. Just said I didn't have to. Also the line of 15yrolds behind me was kind of embarassing lol.

What makes you think that? As far as I remember there was no indication of whether or not my id would be valid for 2 years on the receipt, and nobody at the dmv even hinted at it. If it is just paranoia try not to linger on it and attract good thoughts. For all you know it could be even be a 6 year id!

So if you already have an out of state dl, do I write the dl# from my out of state dl?
Plus, when you hand out the application, did you remove the voter registration form yourself prior to giving it? Or they did it?

I saw the paper that guy printed out and It said it expired in 2014.I asked the guy at the DMV and he said that I had to go back in 2 years and show them my renewed work permit to get it for another 2 years. He was being a bit ass hole.

Hey guys same thing happened to me, I went in last Wednesday to DMV-Pomona to get CA ID and a written exam for DL but the lady upfront told me that I'm only getting 2 years because it was based on my EAD Card. WTH. She even said its not worth it to get both since I have to go back in 2 years to renew.
