Hello all! I just got the email saying that they have mailed my EAD card today! I was wondering if anyone can help me with some questions.

1.) People keep mentioning a tracking number, I didn't one in the email. Am I suppose to call them for this or will they send me a separate email?

2.) Does the letter require signature by the recipient or will the mailman leave it in the mailbox even if no one is home?

3.) I came here legally and overstayed. During then, I had a valid social security which has the "valid for work only with work authorization" print on it that I used for college, credit cards, etc. Do I need to go to the social security office for a new card or can I just use my current one? Are they giving me a new SS #? I hope they don't since a lot of my stuff is tied to my current #

Thanks for the responses and I pray everyone else get their approvals soon!

Congrats!

Idk if they'll send you an e-mail since I didn't sign up for that but they will post it up on the my case status website. No we'll just get it in the mail it'll be like in a priority mail envelope. And last you'l have the same # for life so you'll just get a new one I'm a bit confused though you say your SSN card says it's valid for empoyment only with dhs authorization? Did you use to have a permit or the ability to work legally before DACA?

Thanks for the response! Yes I did have a work permit before and was able to work legally. However, my legal status expired before I graduated college so I wasn't able to use it after.

If you must have tracking number you should call and request - they will update on USCIS website with your tracking number but that can take days! (you should get your card in about 4 days)

I don't think you need signature many people have said it was left in their mailbox though

You will not get a new number or a new card. The only time you get a new card is when you get greencard. That is when you go back to SS office and request unrestricted card. What you have is good enough and is exactly what you get if you go and tell them you lost a card or something. You will not get a new number. They don't do new numbers unless it's a very special case where you must get new number (like identify theft or crazy stuff like that) and new number is restricted to just a few over your lifetime.

Once you get your EAD you can go to DMV and get your ID/DL License if you don't have one already. If you already have one you can apply for a job legally now. And remember when you apply for a job you don't need any special treatment like sponsorship. There is no way out of deferred action status without the federal government being involved. (might make it easier to get a job)

hope this helps you

Called today and they said 4-6 months was an estimate but it could take even more than that.

No problem! Oh okay then I don't think you'll need to get a new card then since that's what the rest of us will be receiving. Now if you want a new one then I guess you could go get it. Oh and congrats again! You can start applying to jobs now!

Thank you for the response! I'm not going call them, I can wait. I rather have them focusing their time and effort on other people's application than looking for tracking #s. I hope you get approved soon!
