You are not the only one. I have applied to all the positions available in my area (which there aren't many, by the way) as well as sending out my resume with a cover letter and I haven't been contacted yet. I graduated in 2011 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. I guess having no internships/experience and a huge time gap after graduation raises red flags. I will try to apply to volunteering positions and hopefully score one so that I can get some experience, though they usually give preference to students. What are your plans? Any of you graduated in 2011?

I graduated in 2012. I am hoping to get my EAD/SSN Asap, because lots of job posting give preference to either fresh graduates or those with experience.

Good luck Pianos! Also, for those of you with a huge time gap, how are you explaining it in your cover letters? Are you being honest? I haven't addressed it in my previous cover letters, but I'm thinking in addressing it for my future ones.

also a masters in mechanical engineering, have applied everywhere since Jan 4 and no calls so far. I do have volunteer work experience in computational fluid dynamics and CAD with a small company, hopefully it will count for something. My chances were really good on September, fresh out of master program and companies looking for recent graduates. But did not get my permit until Dec 6 and around a week later ssn. still waiting for driver license card. Dam it sucks being like this, always against the clock, always working double for the same things. To make things worse you can't apply just anywhere, you have to leave out some states because their idiotic laws against issuing driver licenses for dreamers.

graduated May-2012 in electrical engineering, has some intern and research experience, got my EAD 7 weeks ago and sent out at least 50 resumes on school career website and agent website.
Lots of head hunter/agents calls (but not much after the initial talk when they figured out I am having EAD, therefore I don't really pick up their call from now on...)
About 5 formal phone interviews, got 5 formal onsites.
Now waiting for the remaining onsite and hopefully offers from other onsite.

I guess I should feel lucky then at this point, one intel recruited said I would be okay with just an EAD " as long you can renew your work permit every 2 years as you have stated, we should not have a problem hiring you in the future"

I guess Im one of the semi lucky ones. I have a masters degree in civil engineering. My EAD was approved back in September and found a job a couple of months after approval. I am working at a small engineering company. Since i just started pay is very low. Nowadays experience is very important. I was being considered for a bigger company but they probably found out i had EAD and stop contacting me. Im trying to get a year or two of experience and hopefully the construction picks up so i can move to a bigger company.

BSEE over here, graduated May 2011. I recommend all of you that still waiting for your documents to start applying now as these process are quite long. They won't ask you for any documents until you are offered a position. I've had 7 onsite interviews, unfortunately 4 turned me down already. I'm waiting for the other four. I had contact with about 15 companies so Idk if I have been lucky in that regard because like many of you I have no experience whats over and my gpa is very low. I do know a lot of people though, so maybe that's why.
