Applying for NJ Driving permit. Important questions! please help - Page 2

i went to my local New Jersey MVC all prepared with documents, i took my 2008 school transcripts just incase . first i had to face my first ordeal is preparing 6 points proof of ID to the front desk lady which i did not seem to satisfy my 6 points Proof of ID, i had.
EAD 3 points
SSC 1 point
Debit card 1 point
the lady in the front desk did not want to take my EAD because i was still need 1 more point so she took i797 notice of actin as 4 points, ssn 1 point bank card 1 point, mind u that i did not bring my diploma and my school transcripts are expired, so they useless.
so i got into the line and waited for my turn, the lady went and talked to her superviser in the back and was so confused and had no idea how to work my case so she came back and told me sorry i am not goin to take i797 notice of action as 4 points of proof so she rejected me , she went back and talked to her superviser and came back to tell me no, i was verry dissapointed, and than by accident i showed her my EAD and she was like thats exactly what i want and gave it to her and she was like now i need either diploma or another bank card or bank statement which i dont have any, so i tell her look i brought this school transcripts just incase she was like ok let me go over and talk to my superviser if he could accept them as 1 point to pass the 6 points, she came back smilling, and gave me thumps up i knew it in my heart i was relieved, she registered me i payed 25$ in total for state ID and permit Test which i latter passed and aced it.

What's your local mvc? It's not like we're going to hunt you down and find out who you are.

i went to the office in Egg Harbor township nj near atlantic city and it was really easy they took my ead +social +notice of action letter along with debit card and hs diploma and it was no big deal.. the only bad thing was that i got my road test for march ..which sucks because you need a drivers license for a lot of jobs over here..guess ill have to wait

Feeling so jealous of you guys getting nj permits/licenses. I keep getting turned down at the Randolph location. I'm sad, I'm thankful for my EAD but some things as basic as a drivers license are still so difficult.

Turned down for what? Just go to another location,

Do you guys think a college transcript from August of last year is good? Or should I get another one? Probably going next week for the ID.

Hey sorry to hear you've been getting turned down. If you can, try going to another location or a different day. I went back to my DMV on a different day and they didn't even ask for my diploma. They took my 4 year old transcript + expired debit card + EAD + SS card +card statement with address. No questions asked and was in and out under 2 hours. I went to the Hudson County DMVs

Yea that transcript should still be good. Make sure you have your school ID. The first time I went, an old lady said they don't take anything over 2 years old. Came back another day and a new person didn't even checked the date. Good luck!

Notice of action, EAD + SSN, ATM card, bank statement. I don't have school ID and my hs diploma doesn't have the full name the mvc looks for.

I'm going to try a different location but this is so ridiculous. I called the mvc central office (contact # on the site) and they told me a notice of action has to be accepted and if they don't take it to ask to speak to a supervisor. Why are they such a pain in the ass?!
