So I was wondering if anyone else face the same situation as I do and what are they planning on doing.
Just an idea: have they given you the option of providing such documents from your parents? Have you asked them? Maybe that could help.

Yeah pretty much all the schools in florida are doing that. you have to live here for a year with legal presence. so you basically have to wait a year for instate tuition.

I'm 22 and live in FL with my parents. My college told me that if I am approved it is possible that I might be able to get in state tuition. My parents are documented and have lived in FL for 7 years and are classed as my sponsers untill I am 24 so it is them who applies.

That is incredibly offensive and ignorant. I seriously hope you don't think that way. How is their situation any different from all of ours? The people picking cherries ARE your parents who came to the U.S 5 or 10 years ago trying to give you a better life, better education, a better chance at opportunities they never had themselves. Sorry to be so aggressive but I myself came to the U.S and worked as a busboy and dishwasher in the filthiest Chinese restaurants for years before getting my GED. I, like some of those 'cherrypickers', strived to go to college and have a decent life.

So I've been approved for daca and I want to apply to a community college here in California. I've been livin here for 5 years now. Can I still apply for in-state tuition even though I graduated high school from another state?? I know I don't qualify for ab540. Any advice would help. Thanks!

toosway we have about the same time line and ive seen your post on the vermont thread and i feel the same way because my parents strived and worked hard to give me and my brother a better life here. and for those who are trying to apply to a college dont just give up if someone at a front desk says "we cant help you or DACA cant help you get in or get in state tuition" because its a load of bull$hit. the reason being is because i just started college a year ago and i got rejected and my fiance was super mad and made a lot of phone calls and its usually some really ignorant person that is trying to push us away. So dont give up and keep seeking a higher education which no one can take away from us. Here in NC i just found out that were going to start having in state tuition thanks to DACA and all you need is a copy of the application acceptance letter and a way of proving youve been here for 2 years which can be a car registration of your parents car or a copy of a lease agreement etc. Good luck to all applicants and like me stay positive as your time will come for approval. We have to trust God on this one
