I'm undocumented (not DACA approved yet), but I have a valid SSN that is not valid for employment. I was still able to get a job using that SSN earlier this year, and I received a W-2 from my employer.

What form do I use to file my taxes? I've read that undocumented people must file with form 1040NR instead of 1040 or 1040EZ, since they're nonresident aliens. Anyone have any experience with filing their taxes that can help me?

It's my first time, and I have no idea how to go about filing. I'm not sure if I should use a service like H&R Block or TurboTax, or whether I should seek an accountant.

I have been filing my taxes for years, I have been using 1040 for my tax returns. Never had a problem. If you reside (for a year) in the state you are filing, you are considered as a resident..

Hi. First of all, you must notify SSN that you've been approved for DACA so that your SSN is changed to "Valid for work authorization with DHS permission." The number will remain the same by the way. Secondly, you will be filing the same tax return that everyone else files, 1040 or 1040EZ which is much easier return provided you meet some basic requirements. I suggest going to a local Accounting firm. There are many that have been in business for long time and specialize with hispanic clients.

I'm happy to hear that I can file with 1040 and 1040EZ. Thank you!
I think I might wait until at least the end of February to file, in case my DACA/EAD approval happens by then

I'm actually Asian, not Hispanic. But anyway, I really don't want to risk doing my taxes wrong since it's my first time, so I was thinking of using TurboTax to file. Is that not favorable compared to going to an accounting firm? I feel like TurboTax would be cheaper for me to use, but I'm not sure if an accounting firm would be worth the extra money

They would be worth the money especially if it's your first time. Why not try and visit a VITA site in your area?

Today I amended my past taxes with the form 1040x I hope they don't return them.. I called the IRS and they told me I qualify as a resident alien for tax purpose so it seems I do qualify for those past taxes but there was a few other forms that he had to check to see if the 1040x was the right one but I lost reception and lost the call.

Do you mean you didn't see any of it in return as a refund? Because if that's the case the reason is lifetime isn't refundable only the american opportunity is.

There's no minimum that I know of. What could also be the case is it's not showing up because you have 0 taxable income. god i hope i'm explaining myself right i'm so tired right now. lol
