Oh I thought I read unemployment benefits. Well I guess. It's amazing when people don't need to be on welfare because that means they are doing great on their own. I wish no one had to be on it. But it's not like that and if one has mouths to feed and heck standard of living here ain't cheap then there's nothing to be ashamed of especially since everyone chips in to the system. But that's just my point of view.

Can't believe anyone even has the audacity to create a thread like this, especially if it's someone that was or will be DACA approved. Like someone else said, if you think you should qualify for unemployment with just a work permit, especially if it's from DACA, you need to GTFO of this country. You make the rest of us look bad.

Some of you really sound silly repeating the same things that so many people that don't understand our situation go around saying. Many of us would probably not even qualify for it because it varies in every state and y'all act like we don't pay taxes when we do. We pay our share and don't even qualify to receive any of it. So basically we give more than we receive which is nothing. I'm getting really tired of all these negative comments and also of seeing how some of us call each other illegal. Y'all need to educate yourselves and stop thinking like all those individuals that believe we are mooching spoiled criminals.

It depends on how long you worked and how much you payed into the unemployment fund. It also depends on the state. In California you would qualify unless you quit the job.

If you become unemployed because you decided to quit your job, you do not qualify, because your employer would be required to pay part of it, and they prefer to just give you your job back. If they fired you, they would be required to pay.

You could just call the unemployment office and ask them directly, otherwise you might not get a accurate answer.

bottom line: call them.

Its so true what he said. Even if we qualify, we shouldn't try to get it because it just makes us look bad

You have to remember that there is a microscope on us now as talks of immigration reform is starting to gain traction. The right wingers are going to try to paint a narrative that we're a bunch of law breakers who want freebees and to make babies and be on welfare. Even though unemployment is insurance that employers pay, it's not something that's celebrated (for one, if an employee files, the rate the business pays goes up) and for us certainly it only helps the right wingers.

We are fighting a PR battle here. Be smart guys.
