Why do people think what they have been through entitles them for "rewards" than the people who have suffered less than they have but meet the same requirements to qualify?

In regards to english, make it a requirement for everyone to speak it, don't just single out people like my mom who bust her ass all damn day and is too physically tired to even try going to go to some ESL class .

So you think you are entitled to a green card because your mommy ran with you through the border but someone who stayed over their visa or any other similar circumstance shouldn't?
Your mommy was an adult when she made the conscious decision to bring you here when you were a kid. It's so hypocritical what you wrote and you don't even realize it.

And you want to find a excuse as to why your mom didn't bother to learn English? Because she was tired? Is that your excuse? I worked and I was tired too and I didn't feel like buying books and going to class after work but guess what: I had to. I didn't want to remain in shitty low paying jobs for the rest of my life. In my field, better English means better oportunities.

I think I see now when so many people are offended with my thread: those people feel entitled to things because they came here very early and they feel they are USC just because they went to school here. Guess what: you are not.

Amnesty denotes forgiveness for past transgressions and in immigration terms, unconditional residence/citizenship. What has been talked about by the group of 8 senators is a long process in which people would have to wait years for the current backlog of applicants, those who were petitioned by USC's or LPR's and those who fall under work petitions etc. before even granting them a conditional green card. Add to that, back taxes, fines, and the requirements to go through various background checks and learning English and American civics, the whole process will take a decade...hell of an 'amnesty' huh?

So to sum it up; A green card will not be issued to anyone unless there's tough border security enacted, applicants have to pass background checks, have to pay back taxes, have to pay fines, have to learn English and learn about American civics.

Also, how can you put yourself up on a pedestal as a model immigrant yet you would not get your Citizenship? You sound like an anti-immigrant immigrant French friend I have who refuses to get his Citizenship as this country in his words, "is not [his] country because it sucks."
I'm sorry police-grammar, I didn't know everyone in this board wrote perfectly in English, including the welfare-seeker who watches Sponge Bob the whole day.

I have no interest in the citizenship but I have interest in making the country better. What's more important?
Do YOU even plan in contributing to this country by being a good citizen, paying your taxes, follow the law or will you keep believing that you are entitled to things because you came here when you were a kid?

My point with this thread was that no all immigrants applying even care about the country: they just want a green card so they can travel back and forth from the US to their country or be able to drive.

NO it is not hypocritical what he wrote. You came from a country with a better educational system. His mother could have come from a poor mountain town. You are the Judgmental person.

You think you have education but you don't.

But don't come in here handing out tickets acting like Mr Obama and choosing who deserves green cards.
I stated my point of view and asked others their opinions.
Amazing that no one bothered to stick to the thread and instead they misinterpreted everything I wrote.

I am shocked that no one wrote that people with criminal records shouldn't get a green card. It's almost like "who gives a damn as long as I get mine?"

That mentality will turn this country into another bad country lacking jobs and filled with violence and ignorance.

I came to the US with a visa but I sent my form I-549 (to extend my stay here) on the day that my visa would expire...so here I am.
I cannot go to college because I don't have a student visa and finished high school in my country, Brazil.

I really hope they give the amnesty soon.

He has been calling it amnesty for a while holy shit

This guy literally doesn't have an education

Can you guys stop paying attention to him now

Probably frustrated he thinks he's doing everything right yet feels some unfairness going on. Probably frustrated as well

In regards to your amnesty question. Why not? It is not for us to know if people would bring a positive change to the country. Also, have you ever thought of why some people who have been here for 20 years cannot talk English? Maybe they lived where they were comfortable with. The stayed in neighborhoods that were primarily of the same ethnicity out of fear of being deported or what not. Maybe their ethnicity issued a situation where the race card was pulled out. You don't know a person's circumstances. Thus, do not judge people or perpetuate that you hate people who didn't do the same things you did.
Many people may have difficulty or didn't need to learn English but are they contributing to the country in a positive way? At least paying taxes or maybe by being a good citizen?
I do not hate anyone, if you cannot read, stop bothering with this thread.

I come off as arrogant...and all of you who replied to this thread in the past 3 hours sound uneducated, entitled and simply angry.
Probably all of you were discriminated by an immigrant who came legally and now you carry this hatred. I have been discriminated by Hispanics because I didn't spoke Spanish. So what? I don't hate them. I have met Hispanics that came thru the border and were polite.
And then I come in here and some of you think that you are a USC just because you were carried on your mommy's arms to this country. Give me a break.

Zero knowledge of immigration laws, immigration history, welfare, and social services.

The one that sounded arrogant, angry, and entitled was the OP in his/her first post.

I was brought up here when I was 9 years old I am now 23 and it sure as hell has been a struggle growing up being illegal as WE ALL know, so if this passes I would be so grateful as WE all should be.

My problem with your opinion is how selfish you sound ,to be honest, because we are all illegal no matter if you're rich, poor, educated or not, you get the point. If all of us who are illegal were actually united and not have selfish ideas like yours who knows we could of had raise even a bigger voice these past years and we could of had been legal by now, but no there's always going to be these people who think they deserve it more than others. Personally it doesn't matter to me if they earned it or not as long as they ain't criminals they should have a chance to feel 'free' in this land just like every other legal citizen of this country.
I'm sorry but to say my opinions are selfish is just wrong.
I live in LA and the Latino community is HUGE. Did you know Latinos hate blacks? Do you think the Africans, Haitians or any black Hispanic/Latino/South American who came to this country is not welcome into the highest population of illegal immigrants?
Do you think when those Hispanic immigrants go to the streets to rarely protest, that they want to hold hands and unite with the black immigrants?

You want to talk about someone, talk about your own people who discriminate people in the exactly same situation as them.
