hey guys, i'm still waiting for my daca approval but i'm in desperate need of a full time job so i can move out of my parents' and go back to school next year. the thing is i've never had a 'normal' job in my life (you know like working a cash register or serving at restaurants). i've worked for short-time temporary jobs from craigslist only so i have no idea how the process of applying for jobs is like. i'm really embarrassed about it but was hoping someone can help me out answer my questions. so here it goes....

1. am i legally present in this country since i'm pending for daca approval or does legal presence only apply to the approved people?
2. if i'm legally present then can i just walk into a retail store and ask for an application?
3. what do you put for the 'employment history' part if i have no actual job experience? can i leave that part blank?
4. is getting hired at retail stores easy? i mean would having no real job experience at early 20's affect my chance of getting hired at a place like target?

i fee like a loser asking these questions but please be nice thanks.

1. No, you are NOT legally or lawfully since you have YET to be approved for deferred action. This mean you can be deported. Chances of this are slim unless you mess up like commit a crime. Best suggestion is to keep doing what you have been doing these years and not mess it up for you.
2. Only if you have been approved and have your EAD/SSN/ some jobs require a DL
3. If you don't have any then you don't have any, dont lie or anything
4. I have no idea about that, I would think you should ask those who work in the retail stores. However, following trends, its easier to get hire for low skilled jobs than high skilled jobs.

And no, you are NOT eligble or even can apply for jobs at this time as you are missing your EAD with approval letter, and with out an EAD you cannot acquire your SSN and with out an EAD and SSN you cannot apply for jobs. Whats going to happened when you start to apply and oh snap I don't have my SSN yet..."well that sucks come back once you do, NEXT!"

You have to wait until you receive you EAD and SSN arrives.

1. your are under deferred action. Which means ICE has no intentions in deporting you not unless you do something stupid. you are here only LEGALLY because of Deferred Action.

2. You can walk in to any store and ask for any applications. But its not worth submitting an application without a SSN on it. They are just going to look over and when they schedule you for an interview and you have no SSN, they will just simply deny you.

3. Just leave it blank.

4. Its easy. Target will hire you if they are hiring. Many people in this forum are working at Target.

Yes

If you ever looked at an application it ask about your legal status and overstayers are not eligible to work
