Hello everyone!

I want to ask you for advice on an interview question. I graduated with a degree in Finance in June 2012. No experience in anything but babysitting here and there. I have been interviewing and one of the questons that I was asked in my last one was, "what have you been doing since June?" I got kind of stuck with this one and said that I was exploring my options.

I was interested in pursuing a financial advising career which is a lot like a sales job and interviewed with different companies and talked to many financial advisors during the fall and decided it wasn't my time. So that's when I started looking into jobs like financial analyst etc.. I actually did do that but I still feel like I need to add more to my explanation. Any ideas/advice/opinions on how I can go about with this question?

Thank you!!!

6 - 7 months is not a long time. Some of us graduated from college years ago. Just blame it on the tough job market.

I'm currently a financial analyst, and I have to say that it is incredibly rough place to be right now. Banks are shedding jobs left and right. Just make it known to your prospective employer that you have been researching and keeping up to date in the finance world.

You can, perhaps, start writing about finance as well. Start a blog and do some financial modeling, post it up. Do some due diligence on a stock, post it up. Shows ambition, and it hones your skills.

Hi,
That's a great idea to start a blog. Def will look into it and start doing it. Thanks for the input!

I'm guessing the links there are your blogs?
