So, which cards do you guys recommend for me? I don't have a job and before I would get paid in cash therefore, no credit whatsoever. I am going to receive some $ from financial aid and want to get a credit card only to build my credit. Ive been with Bank of American for about 4 years now, not sure if I should go with a secured card or a Capital One card, I want to build my credit ASAP since I graduate in June and plan to buy a new car by the end of this year.

I have been with Capital One for a couple of years now and the best they could do for me is apply me for some limited credit card and I got declined within a week, meh...

I told them I wanted a Student card, or Limited card, or Beginner called, whatever they called it...but nothing...

Where do i get these secured credit cards from? Is there like somewhere that gives you guaranteed?

Bank of America offers a secured credit card with a deposit of, at least, $300.00. After a year, if you maintain good credit, they will reimburse you your $300.00 and let you request a credit line increase. Walk into a branch and talk to one of their representatives.

Don't become addicted though or you'll end up in debt very fast
It's better if you don't max out your credit card limit. Try spending no more than 25% (guesstimate since I don't remember the exact percentage) of your credit limit each month and pay it in full to avoid high interest rate. It shows that you are a responsible spender and can handle higher credit limit.

I was originally going to apply for the Capital One for Newcomers card but after chatting with a rep he recommended the Journey Student Rewards Credit Card. Got an e-mail on Friday saying I was approved and the card is on it's way which I'm thrilled because I thought I was gonna get denied since my social is recently new which means no credit history.

So if your a student or soon to be student, I'd recommend it. I also remember someone on here recommended it as well.

Here's the link if anyone is interested:
