Social Security number in New York

Guys when I applied for the social security do I have to answer the part where they ask

"Mother name and fathers name and social security"

I'm 20 years old.

You can leave the SSN part empty and just fill the Unknown box. I added my parents name. Not sure if it's required for over 18 but it doesn't matter.

Can I leave it blank even if my dad has an SSN? It's invalid for work at this point but he still uses it.
