There's no minimum that I know of. What could also be the case is it's not showing up because you have 0 taxable income. god i hope i'm explaining myself right i'm so tired right now. lol
I have $7000 on my wages and I was pretty much just getting back what I paid for federal and state. I might just have entered something wrong. I will go to a VITA clinic and have them do them for me, hopefully I can get the credit because i need to pay some stuff.

My 2012 W-2 contains my ITIN number which I've already rescinded when I received my SSN. Do I just file my taxes using the SSN or would I have to get my W-2 changed to reflect my SSN?

You don't have to get it changed. Just file it using your new ssn.

I already have an SSN that was not valid for employment. I've gotten approved for EAD, but I haven't had the chance to go to an office to update this information. Do I need to do this before filing my taxes? Or will it not be a problem if I do this after filing?

Just a note on using software to file. I was using H&R Block online to file. Right before filing it prevents me from filing with my SSN because it doesn't match the W-2 SSN. It worked fine before when I used my ITIN. Before you buy the software, I'd recommend going and having them do it for you. They'll know what to do.

Take a look at the 1040. I'm assuming your are single. Right there you will get a standard deduction of $5,950. Now we have $1,050 remaining. The exemption amount for 2012 tax year is $3,800 per individual. That reduces your taxable income to $0. Therefore you overpaid exactly by the amount that was withheld and will be refunded that amount. Sounds about right to me.

Were you working under your SSN (Not authorized for work) last year? I'm really not sure why you were doing that if the answer is yes. Not to scare you but you could potentially get into some hot water. If you're income is off the books, don't worry about filing this year. Have that SSN status changed and use that from now on at your job and file your taxes next year for the 2013 tax year.
