and i also worry that i send selective service with my ssn BUT i did not cover it wtih anything so
mailman could see my ssn will this be a probelm?

Anyways, usguy, I think what you mean is that your SSN won't show up as a valid number yet. I'm guessing you tried to sign up for Selective Service online and it didn't let you.

It takes a while for your SSN to show up in all of the databases. I also sent my Selective Service form by mail.

If the mailman or anyone else uses your ssn then you will find out eventually and they will get in trouble for identity theft. Also if you went to the SSA office and I'm sure you did otherwise you wouldn't have been able to receive it then yes it is valid. Only it might take some time to show up on stuff or as valid jsut like JJ just said. Some folks have been having problems with getting hired/getting loan approved because of that. You could always try to e-verify yourself.
