Well, you can't just apply for a green card without a sponsor of some sort or a special visa so I'm guessing this would create a special visa that we'd be eligible for after 8 years. Think about it, those who are here now with an over-stay can apply for a green card RIGHT NOW, but you can't just go to ICE and say "One green card please, where do I wait"? They'd require a citizen family member or company to do it.

If that same person already has a sponsor now and has a few more years to go, this will get them some legal status and whichever one comes in first, gets it.

Do they even know what they are saying in this situation, at this point in time? What universe are they living in?

On other news, the word "shit" is okay to say on television. The word "republican" has been added to the curse words list.

That is true. I hate to keep playing the "I'm old card", but these ungrateful children (and that's what they are) have not suffered. They don't know the meaning of suffering. They think that just because they had to wait an extra 2 years to get a driver's license or they can't go on a trip to Cancun with their friends that they have suffered.

I bet you they haven't walked around in the hallways their Senior year with all their classmates in the same AP classes talking about where they got accepted to college and how much grants they're getting and when asked where they're going to college have to give a sheepish answer like "I might take a year or two off".

I bet you these children haven't worked 24 hour shifts at a sweat shop making $4 an hour because that was the only way to survive.

I bet you they haven't saved enough money and somehow found a way to go to college while in fear of being "found out" just to not feel like they're throwing their lives away.

I bet you they haven't seen the years go by and watch their friends get accepted to fortune 500 companies making $300,000 with the same degree, buy houses, start families, etc. while they see no end to sight after years and years of waiting with each year the promise of reform getting shot down and life getting harder and harder.

If they did, I think they would shut the hell up and happily accept legal status and a green card after 8 years.

8 years is a long time. By the time I get a GC, I will be too old. In all fairness, I think they should just give GCs for DACA applicants, since some of you have been living here for a long time. My 2 cents.

Current Over stayers can get a sponsor from a company? I thought you need to have a Student Visa for that>

Also, if someone has a I-130 petition already and is waiting for PD than this beneficiary would be allowed to get GC through current system or the new? Whichever come first?

What about the people who have been over 3 decades for this?

What about the 31+ Dreamers who did not qualify for DACA?

The problem is the age-cap also. The Dreamers who have been here a long time did not qualify for DACA if they aged out.

if the bipartasian bill has a specific time when people will get greencards i would prefer it because its gonna pass house easyer, but it says after the border is secure and then end of line so it can take 2 years or decades its not clear like obamas 8 years

Just to keep things in perpective, you whether on purpose or due to your parents should not be here. Technically, you should be caught and deported without any concern to your wellbeing because you are here without the right documents. There is no denying this or sugarcoating it. That is the reality.
Now given this reality, is it better to get deported or be allowed to stay here legally, allowed to work, pay into social security, travel, drive, and after 8 years fet a green card? What difference does that make to you unless the plan is to apply for more relatives which is exactly what those against reform say?

And keep in mind the 8 years is the max...You can get married to a USC during that time too or through other petitions.
The most important thing is to gain legal status and the other things will fall in place.
