The things he is trying to clear up are not even a big deal because all he had to do is put other names on page 2 of the I-821d under the section other names used. He just had to do an explanation of your name situation. Your dad legally changed his name in the states? What last name does your passport have your dad's old last name or new last name? You need to find someone new and ask for your money back. look him up on the cal bar website to see if he is a legit lawyer.

Plus $1500 is expensive. You could probably find better service for cheaper.
So did you get an email/text or just the notices? And.. did they come together?

Well he changed it in his home country so when I went to update my passport from my home country here, it said the new last name. She made a copy of the court document though that showed my updated birth certificate & name change.

Well the thing is... my dad has known the actual attorney for years & knows of his good work. However, his office has 2 legal assistants who do all the work since the attorney is always at court or doing things. And we've been dealing with one of the legal assistants (who my parents know of her good work).

She's the one who filled out my paperwork, and gathered my evidence, and has been communicating with me. However the actual attorney was the one who reviewed everything and signed it.

Like I said I just feel in a very wierd situation since things seem wierd but my parents have known them for years now and have no reason to doubt them.

So I searched the attorney (not the legal assistant who's been dealing with my case) and I saw that he was admitted to the cali state bar in '66 then became inactive in '89 and is now inactive.

But what does that mean?!

This office is always FULL of clients, and believe me I know of the great work they've done. So I'm sure he's still able to practice law right?

Ugh my case is just evolving so wierd...

I sent my application as you can see from my signature 10/19. They received my case on the 24th and that is the day my check was cashed. I received my text october 25th at 6:14am. My biometrics appointment I received on the 29 for November 20th. Unless he sent your app in a giant box with other apps I don't see why it should take that long. Especially since you have all your updated paperwork.

So what about the whole state bar thing?

Like what does it mean if the attorney is "inactive"?

It means they currenlty can't practice law in California.

http://mcle.calbar.ca.gov/Attorneys/...bleStatus.aspx

You need to ask them for your receipt numbers.

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

If you go to ^^^In the box that says case status. You put your case number and you can check your case.

Try it with this random number so you can see what you are supposed to see WAC1390087020

Oh wait nevermind, I searched again and I had mispelled his last name.

This time it shows active and it shows the address of the law office and everything. So from that part its good.

Anyway so... i spoke to her this week and she said that if I'm so impatient that she could schedule an infopass with the immigration officer shes working with to just process it how it is if I dont want the delay anymore... and that instead of dealing with the problems before hand how she was doing.... that she'll just deal with it how they come... that she wanted to make life easier for me for when I need to re-apply in 2 years and to avoid getting possibly interviewed cause of the two things I told you.

ANd that that way I could have a paper from immigration so I could be at peace.

but like i said... it boggles my mind of WHY i haven't received when it was supposidly received at the lockbox. it just doesnt make sense

I think for your own peace of mind. Go to a second attorney for a second opinion. Many attorneys offer a free consultation or else call around to see if you can find a non-profit attorney. I just think is weird that she is working directly with someone at USCIS?? If she has a connection that is new to me since other people with attorneys haven't had the same luxury. I think tell her yes on that infopass. Nobody has been interviewed by uscis over daca that I know off.

The thing wit you not using your mom's last name is not even a big deal. I don't use my mom's lat name and my ead only has my first and last. You are supposed to use your whole name, but uscis sometimes cares and sometimes they don't. I have a long last name so they have always left out the second one for me.

You're right... Okay thanks for all you're help.

So I only know of a couple people that have filed for daca and their cases were pretty much straight forward easy. They had everything quick like 1-2 months from the day they sent their package. They are also in Cali like me.

Do you know of anyone with complications?

Also.. are you in Cali too?

I am in Cali. There have been plenty of people that post here with complicated cases. Compared to their cases I don't think yours is that bad. Out of my friends has a deportation order and she is still waiting. I have a previous case too but no deportation order.
