I guess it depends on the office handling your application. Most will just not care and take whatever acceptable document.

Others will bitch and moan at you to bring a birth certificate, or come back in 2 weeks, or take your application and deposit it into the paper shredder, or make a big deal because the comma in the 10th line looks crooked.

Since this is already posted I hope nobody minds and can answer the following question. Is it true that its best to wait about a week to go apply for your social? From what I've read, they take longer if you go apply for a social right after receiving your EAD. Wondering this because I got my EAD this past Friday.

On the form it asks for parents ss#... Mom my is illegal like me but dad isn't. What do I do?

You can just check the Unknown box for both of them.

So I've had a valid SS number, so would I follow the same process?

You keep your same ssn number. If you have Not Valid for Work you can go get a new that says valid for work with dhs authorization.
