I'd appreciate everyone's guidance/opinion.

Live in Cali. Hired a lawyer. She said it was sent to the lockbox in November. She said its at the California Service Center where she's working with an immigration officer with my case since its complicated.

However... I never received email/text notification or letter receipts from the lockbox. I called the 1800 number a couple times and my name is never found when they do a computer search. I sent an inquiry on my money order and it was never cashed.

I'd hate not to trust my lawyer, because she's really nice.

But it's just really strange.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Try asking her for your receipt numbers. If it is at the California Service Center it will start with WAC. Nice or not, this lady may be a crook so you need to be assertive with her. If she can't provide you with a case number, she is probably lying to you.

I submitted my application through a lawyer whom I paid upfront and she took months to send my application to USCIS. She kept changing the date of when she would be finished "reviewing" it so I bugged her everyday until she finally sent it. I only did this because all of the other lawyers in my area reviewed applications in under two weeks before sending them off.

Thank you. You know, I've called her like 4 times since she supposidly filed it in November and she's said I'm impatient & this and that.

She never specifys anything and drives me in circles, when she says that IIIII drive her in circles.

Ive told her many times that if she hadn't sent it to let me know so I'm not worried about the receipts. But shes insisted that it went to the lockbox and cali service center & was gonna schedule an infopass with the immigration officer whos reviewing it to just process it...???? and that once its processed that I'll receive a receipt....???? But ive told her many times that Ive been told i get the receipt BEFOREEEEEEE its processed in the service center... like wtf..???? Ugh last time I spoke to her was last friday...

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

So, this morning I received two text message from 87247 saying "USCIS: Your case was received. Receipt #LIN1390488XXX. Official Receipt Notice (Form 1-797) to follow in mail. Msg & Data rates may apply. DO NOT REPLY"

Both were identical except for the last two numbers.

Since its LIN that means it's in Nebraska, which is wierd since the paralegal (I know i said lawyer but the one who ive been communicating with is the paralegal) said its at the California Service Center... (I live in Cali)...

I've looked at how the receipts are supposed to look online... and I'm confused...

Does the LOCKBOX send the receipt or the SERVICE CENTER... but AFTER the lockbox receives it???

I'm just really trying to see where the hell my application has been and exactly when it was filed and exactly when it was received since the paralegal has been telling me conflicting information.

My case status isn't up online yet.

Not sure why its taking months to get a receipt notice, per my understanding its usually 2 weeks.

You need to call her and email her letting her know your concerns, we had a paralegal working on my father's petition for my mother for 3 months, my sister who works with attorney's finally got fed up with all the runarounds and emailed her, to let her know she was going to contact the state and let them know what she was doing was wrong. To cut the story short, she had not yet mailed the application, and we knew because we never received any receipts. (The receipts should be mailed to your home address.) Not even 3 weeks later we had the receipt. If she fails to contact you, you should call BBB and anyone else that you can to have her stopped. Hope if all worked out for you.
