Hey guys I joined this group in search of help my parents don't really know much and I have a lot of questions I sent in my application a week ago along with the $465. I have the following questions what actions am I suppose to be taking now? What is a biometrics? Or an I-767 something like that I've seen you guys post. I've also seen there's a page you can check your applications process? I appreciate your time and thank you so much in advance.

Well, basically nothing really

Once your application gets accepteded or rejected based if you filled it right, you will be sent an biometric appoinment where they basically take a picture of you that will be used for your EAD card if approved, and you fingerprints will be taken and run through databases to confirm you are not or are a criminal or to find anything there might exists under your name. No big deal.

After that, you will wait a few months maybe weeks if you are lucky? for a decisions. It will either be denied, RFE (Request for evidence; they will be specific on what they need) or better approve!

Once your approval letter comes (SAVE IT) your EAD will arrive shortly, with it, you may then get a SSN which have the markings: VALID WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION which will arrive to you after you applied for it (make sure to fill the application before going)

SAVE THIS

  • Foreign birth certificate
  • Foreign passport
  • US Military Record
  • US Military ID card
  • Religious record showing age or date of birth
  • US Driver License
  • US State ID card
  • School record showing age or date of birth (ex. transcript)
  • School ID card
  • Copy of medical record

** - You can also obtain the form at the office, but it's probably better to just fill it out at home, being able to type in the information and having plenty of time to re-check everything over and over again.

All documents used must be the originals, or certified copies.

You should receive the SS card within 2 weeks. Usually you can also obtain a print out of your number within 2-3 days if you go visit the social security office again. Some states accept print-outs, others require the physical card. A partial list of which states accept or do not accept them can be found here.

And with your EAD and SSN, you will be able to get a ID/DL

That is it

So just sit back, get a hobby and enjoy the ride

"A" application? You were supposed to send two (I821D and i765).

Biometrics is where they just take your fingerprints. A letter should come in the mail soon telling you how to proceed. I765 is your work permit application. I821D is your deferred action application.

After you get your receipt number(s) in the mail don't freak out if it comes up that that number was not found. In can take a month or so to show up. Some people's numbers haven't shown up until they get approved.

What's confusing about i765? It's just a work permit application. Everyone adjusting their status has to apply for that anyways. When you get the letter, you can put the receipt number in uscis.gov to track it.
