did bios 12/18 still waiting.. What's something we can do in the meantime? I know some of you guys are working on a resume, but I've never had a real job before. Any tips for a first job? Is having no prior experience a bad thing?

Here's a suggestion: get involved and do some community service. So even if you don't have past work experience, it will give you something that you can put on your résumé, give you connections of people you can use as references for when you do need them, and (of course) give you an opportunity to give back.

Personally, I've been reading a lot, babysitting for families, learned how to bake, and learned how to crochet. Just anything to pass the time.

Legal, try volunteering even if it's just a few hours a week, it will at least give you a reference. Start looking at what type of jobs are hiring in your area so you get an idea of where you want to apply. Visit coursera.org and watch videos on subjects you like.

Well since I didnt find the October applicants thread I decided to post here. So I sent my application in October i went for my biometrics on November 11, and from there its been on initial review. I called them two weeks ago they said if by April 11 I dont receive anything to give them a call. What do you guys think ? Is this usual waiting time or is my application taking to long, kinda scared I might get denied......

There are still a lot of people from October waiting. Some from August/September are still waiting as well. It seems arbitrary the way that they approve/look at cases, there isn't really an order. So I would say that as long as you are under 6 months it's still considered normal wait time. Good luck! Let us know if you hear something else.

Thank you to everyone who has responded to me in this & other forums where I posted my situation on.

Sorry for not directly responding to the ppl that have responded to me. Its just that when I've tried doing that before it doesn't how up on the new page, so Idk if ya'll will see it lol.

Thank you for your advice/suggestions... This is what's new...

So, this morning I received two text message from 87247 saying "USCIS: Your case was received. Receipt #LIN1390488XXX. Official Receipt Notice (Form 1-797) to follow in mail. Msg & Data rates may apply. DO NOT REPLY"

Both were identical except for the last two numbers.

Since its LIN that means it's in Nebraska, which is wierd since the paralegal (I know i said lawyer but the one who ive been communicating with is the paralegal) said its at the California Service Center... (I live in Cali)...

I've looked at how the receipts are supposed to look online... and I'm confused...

Does the LOCKBOX send the receipt or the SERVICE CENTER... but AFTER the lockbox receives it???

I'm just really trying to see where the hell my application has been and exactly when it was filed and exactly when it was received since the paralegal has been telling me conflicting information.

My case status isn't up online yet.

Well LIN is definitely Lincoln, Nebraska... I'm in Texas, but got the Nebraska center.. so it' s not always routed to the nearest center. And in my case, I also received two LIN numbers.. one for deferred action and one for the worker's permit. They were also only different in the last digit, so that's normal. I would give it a little while to show up on the website and then check back if you still don't show up on the website. I don't see anything to be crazily concerned about at the moment, but of course if it gets fishy in your mind, feel free to check back with your lawyer/paralegal.

I wonder if applications are given different attention in these centers. Since Cali is a more liberal state I thought it'd go better here... but then again its the state where there are the most applicants...
