Is there anyway to know your social number before it arrives in the mail? Like online or somehow? I know the paper says it takes two weeks and the guy told me the usual time was a week or less.

You can call the Social Security Administration and ask them if you have been issued a Social Security Number. If they say yes, you can go back to the Social Security Office and ask to get a print-out of your number. It is basically a letter that says your name on it and has your Social Security Number on it and it says that that number belongs to you.

Or if you don't want to call, you can go back 2-3 days after applying and hope that you have been issued a number and see if they can give you a print-out.

Thanks for the reply. I would go back to the office but I had to wait an hour an a half when I applied for it. I rather wait a week for the mail haha. I was desperate and didn't know what to do anymore.

im pretty sure most of us hitting that 6th month mark might end up receiving that rfe letter

Your waiting time has no indication on whether you will be issued an RFE or not. The adjudicators don't start looking over a case until the background check clears. So if your background check just cleared after 6 months, they will begin looking over your case, and if you have enough evidence, you will be approved, if not, you will be issued an RFE.
