So I have been contemplating what to major in for a while. I go to a high school that gives us the chance to take some classes at our community college so that's been pretty cool, but I have no idea what to do with my life. Accounting seems like an good one or business administration. But I've recently had this idea to enter the media industry like behind the scenes and further into film but I am aware of how competitive this industry is. Then I went through an engineering phase. I just want to do something I'm proud of and enjoy as well. I need some advice those of you who have graduated do you enjoy what you do, did you pick the right career?

As a person who went through this and I guess perhaps still going through this the best advice I can give you is to set a plan and get going on the road following your plan. Just be flexible as the plan might change with new information and experience you acquire.

I agree with this.

When it comes to choosing a major for college, choose something you like doing or else the classes are going to be boring and your not going to enjoy your career. Usually, you don't have to choose until the end of your Second year.

I have a Associates in Business Administration. During that time, taking intro level business courses I learned I like Marketing the best. I majored in Marketing and Advertising Management for BBA. Thanks to my situation I don't work in that field yet....but at the place I work, I do parts of it.

I also have a big interest in the field of Computers. So I applied for a Master's In Computer Science and got accepted about 2 weeks ago...and sent my enrollment fee today.

A business background and computer skills should get you most desk jobs.

Accounting is a great professional field, and it's stable. I hate math, and I hate step by step jobs...I like flexibility to do things my way. So I didn't go into that.

Media...it's not stable.

You have to take a bunch of classes to see what you like. It's what highschool sort of tried to do to you; expose you to different subjects to see what you like. In the first two years of college, that's basically what you're doing as well.

Over the summer or if you are doing well enough this semester consider taking some continuing education classes at your community college. They are not-for-credit, and it do not show up on your transcript even if you bomb it or drop. I don't think you have to be a HS graduate in order to enroll in some if not most.

Use it to take the opportunity to learn about a few different fields, it is great especially if you are in a state that doesn't give in-state tuition like mine.

https://www.coursera.org/

Is another good online source. They offer free university classes (not for credit), they are very similar to online classes. Online quizzes, discussion boards, and all you have to do is sign up, no tedious registration forms to fill out.

~~

If you are still unsure about what you want to major in specifically, do not fret. I am about to finish my associates degree, and I'm still not very sure of what I want to major in. I like computer science, but I also like natural sciences (physics), among other things. I plan to take a semester off at most before applying for a 4-year university. Out-of-state tuition is too expensive to drop money on classes I may not end up needing.

My advice to you is to choose a degree in the STEM field (science, tech, engineering, mathematics) these kings of degrees lead to well payed jobs and job outlooks are great in these fields. A degree in arts is not as useful and in demand so my advice is to choose something in the STEM field.

If you can't decide now, don't worry. Make sure you study math, you will need it no matter what.

I chose my majors (CS and physics) when I was in my second year of college... I wish I had at least paid more attention to math.

Choose something that you're passionate about, don't go for the money. Read different descriptions of different programs on university websites. If something strikes your interest, then do some more research on it. Do some research on the different available career paths that stem out of that major -- it's a good starting point.
