I know many of you have filed for taxes with your new S.S. Has anyone had any trouble filling?? Because I have!!!

why? I dont know.

Here is whats going on:

We filed for federal income tax and it was accepted and we got out tax refund. BUT when we files for State EITC from NJ we got a letter back from IRS asking for proof of S.S #'s from all people being claimed. ( which I am one) and other info. I looked over the EITC for NJ and in order to qualify for EITC you must have a S.S and have a work authorization and be a legal resident which I am not or your spouse claimed you as a non resident which will require income from the foreign country. So my husband called and they said they are asking for proof because he might be filing fraudulent info and I am scared that my new S.S triggered it. SO we are basically fucked by NJ and it will take more than 3 months to solve this and its stupid because all of out info is on our federal income tax yet the state wants proof? weirdddd........ so has anyone stumbled upon some trouble?

You just keep getting into trouble. You were the one who was getting kicked out of your house by the landlord? How did that go?

Did you tell the IRS that you won't need your ITIN anymore?

I didnt have an ITIN. I didnt file taxes before. this is my first time. since the customer service rep didnt help much i wrote the department of taxation an email to specifically tell us what is the problem instead of just asking for stuff that we already gave.

What was your filing status? Married filing jointly? separately? etc. EITC is a federal program, not sure why NJ would have an isolated issue with that.

Married filed jointly. Last year he filed married filing separatetly and claimed my son as a dependant. This year we filed jointly because I had my s.s#. It just pissed off that they told us we might be filling fradulent info. Which is bullshit because in order to qualify for EITC you need to file federal and we did and that was fine. Im just gonna assume that NJ is being tough this year since hurricane sandy put it a huge amount of debt. But either way sucks not getting 700 bucks you worked for! lol
