Flying with DACA Pending

Hey guys, I know there's been threads about this, but my case is unique, so I appreciate any suggestions/info

My DACA case is still on initial review since December, but I'll need to fly soon. I have a valid DL (WA), but before I fly I need to renew it (I've done it once before). Last time they gave me a paper license with my photo, and the old one punched with a hole. I was able to fly like this before.

But the reason why I need to renew my license before I fly is because I had to change my name through a court. If everything goes well at the DMV, I'm worried that I'll have a paper license with a different name than the old one. I do have the court order, but I'm worried this will be too risky with TSA

I know this is very specific, but any insights help

(The only other ID I have is my school's ID)

what name is your plane ticket under? the name on your ticket and the name on your ID need to match. that being said, how long does it take to get the actual license in the mail?

you might need to take your old ID, the court order stating the name change and the new paper ID with you when you fly, just to be safe.

When I booked the flight I put my previous name, so that's what the plane ticket will have. I know it's supposed to match my ID, I guess it will match my older ID? ..I'm the same person anyways.. And my last name is the same.. I do plan to have the court order with me.

You are able to change your name on the ticket . Call the airline, they asked me for 2 forms of identification though. Maybe if u fax them the court order you can change it. Good luck

Who asked you for 2 forms of ID, TSA or the Airline? .. what IDs did you show TSA? Did they give you any issues? I'm pending DACA, but did my Biometrics already and have the appointment letter just in case.

the airline said if i wanted to change the name on the ticket i already purchased that i needed to fax them two forms of ID with that name. They were able to add my middle name to the ticket without any proof though. I showed tsa my ead they barely even looked at it.

I honestly think youll be fine w your old ID , the court order, and your paper license

Just because youre daca pending it does not mean anything. Probability of being deported ? Yes likely? Nah so that stuff won't matter.



Yes call the airlines and have then change the name its them checking to see if the tickets matches your ID and the ones who sole it so they should be able too

Thanks, I'm not too worried about the airline ticket, I'll have it match my most current ID, just going through TSA is what I'm concerned about

Yea, I don't even want to bring up DACA, because I know it doesn't mean much while it's pending. I'll have the biometrics appointment letter with me just in case, but I wont show it unless i have to. I used to fly a lot before with a DL, and never had an issue. Just worried about TSA this time bc i have a temp license
