She said currently as we speak Senators are combining which amendments to add to the Hagel-Martinez bill....She said Dream Act amendment was already added, and if someone will try to take it down it will be "Very hard"...I encourage you who can to to call and thank him, and ask about its status.. Believe me it is helpful, she thanked me very for much calling as a student that would benefit

For anyone interested in watching today's press conference on the compromise "breakthrough" bill, this Washington Post article has the streaming video of the comments made by Republicans Frist, Specter, and McCain, and Democrats Reid, Leahy and Kennedy.

Thank you LUKE for the info... I will call the number as soon as I get home. I will also call my friends and ask them to call the number. Just one question? When will they vote for this new bill. Before friday, or after they come back in two weeks?

P.S. You the man Sen Durbin

I found out that they wil try to pass the Hagel/Martinez bill by this friday 04/07/06 go to Yahoo news for the article. Yet the same Senators Kyl/Cornyl/Sessions are against it . Even Sen. Frist changed his mind and is for the new bill . What's up with these Senators?

it seems like the immigration bill by the senate will benefit us (those who want the DREAM act passed), but i've read that it's going to be tough for the House to accept the bill. what do you guys think? also, do you guys think the passage of the immigration bill (if it passes) will be done before next year?

We could tell you what we think, but the bottom line is the Senate doesnt know yet, neither does the House, neither does the President. So its anybody's guess at this point.

I think it will have a much better chance in the House if the President comes out and supports Senate's work. He has been virtually impotent on the issue. I'm sure they have their reason, but sooner or later they have to take a side.
