you know what would suck if those who were approved for DACA get green cards right away and those who are waiting to be approve wont be able to qualify and DACA would be shutdown. lol

@Sonawabich -- I agree we are not animals, but we have to look at this this way the president (could be a democrat, republican, libertarian, etc..) is not a dictator that could just superimpose a law overnight. I can sympathize for all the anger pent-ted up inside you and I don't blame you, this waiting game really gets under people's skin from time to time.

I honestly think that when CIR passes regardless of how long we are have been undocumented that we will all get equal treatment.

As bad as it really sounds, for me at least, we are more-or-less the modern age "black-segregated people" fighting for equal rights, someone had to start it like what Rosa Parks did, and it took time to sink in people's mind the fact that just like LGBT people we are here to stay and regardless of time and age there will be people like us. The problem being resolve is really not only for "the now" but for the future ahead as well, and that's why it is taking time.

except that he has the power to stop the deportations, he has the power to grant an executive order that would prevent families from being deported and the little things that he does right now will not correct the fact that more than a million people where deported and millions of families where broken.

He will be known as the president that took children away from parents and put them up for adoption by strangers, took parents away from children and sent them to other countries while giving them bars. took husbands and brothers away. Deported asylum seekers some of whom have been killed.

Even if he came up with an executive order tomorrow, millions have suffered, it will be the right thing for him to do, but millions would still have suffered and that will be the lasting legacy.

The DACA is not even a permanent solution, its not an executive order, it is temporary and can be taken up by anyone. We are going to be at the whim of the next president who can then decide to use the information that we provided to persecute us.

With all that mentioned, right now is the closest we have ever been to CIR being placed on the table and being considered by both sides of the aisle, we need to work on that.

regarding to your analogy, it is not only similar, but a lot of the organizations that fought against blacks in the 60s have changed their names and are the same organizations that have been pushing hard against immigrants right now. ALEC is one of the primary instigators in this field and have been responsible for the policies that resulted in privatized detention systems and anti-immigrant laws in Arizona that has started to take shape in other states.

I have been in various spaces with leaders of the black community and it has been nothing short of shocking to realize the similarities of their experiences in the 60s to our experiences right now. The intricacies of some of their immigration cases leave them without any clear status usually falling in an out of status with out any permanent resolution and being in that state for various decades.

Some where granted TPS status when their deportation was being sought, the idea was to find a more permanent fix, but nothing has been found, and they often fall back into deportation proceedings only to be saved at the last minute by the president signing off an extra year an a half to their protected status.

The one thing that needs to change in my opinion is the 400,000 quota that ICE has at the moment, with that they may not deport us right now, but they are going to go specially hard to the other people they can, which includes our parents, includes asylum seekers who where not granted asylum, includes the potential incidence of more raids to get more people to meet the quota, and the deportation of people that truly have been doing nothing more than trying to survive, the criminalization of immigrants to hold people in detention centers for longer., etc.,etc.

@buckminsterfullerene -- There is a moral saying, which I'm sure you have heard before "Would you sacrifice the few for the good of the many?"

This really divides people 50/50.

It really sucks that some might get thrown into the lion's den and I pray, that I or anyone else here doesn't get into this kind of predicament.

If you look at it in a broader picture however, it is somewhat necessary for him to show the right wing that matter are being dealt with seriously, I imagine if he did not actually do anything, Republicans will just criticize him and not even work with him towards a CIR goal. It really is an emotional road, I just hope CIR gets done early so less undocumented end up being victims of said actions.

I think that CIR will be introduce mid April and will be passed by the senate by end of may. Then house of Reps will vote on it in early July then go back and fourth for a month and finally end of July we will be filing for CIR and by New Years most of us will have it. I am very optimistic, but it has to leave senate ASAP cuz the republicans in house will drag it out as long as they can.
