Some of you may recognize who I am from when I used to frequent a lot on these forums. I received my DACA in December and since then, I have worked a total of 2 jobs. My first one was working as a shelf stocking person in a department store. In february, I started working in 7/11. While having these jobs, I was constantly on the Job search. I finally landed a job at a reputable bank as a teller and this is only the beginning...

April 2 I passed my Road Test and I now possess a Drivers License and a form of identification. I met a lot of people in my shoes, those who support me and those who love me regardless of my status in this country.

Today, I'd just like to tell all of you that are waiting to be approved, that your life will completely flip upside down after DACA. The moment you recieve your State ID is when it will hit you and you will realize what you have accomplished. Yesteday, I went to see Spring Breakers (Meh, okay movie I guess) and I got asked for ID the first time since receiving it and I presented it, that moment was one of the best moments ever for me, instead of taking out a bulky pamphlet looking like book (passport) I simply took a card like every other person and went right through and sat through a movie that had breasts displayed every 30 seconds. Great experience but the story is meh.

Anyways, no big deal for other people but for US, the people recieving DACA, it is a major sense of acceptance in our community. One of the things people seek in life is the feeling of belonging somewhere. You may think of it or you may not but its in your concious, you just want to be normal like everyone else and belong. You want to drive. You want to go to the bank and withdraw money from your own account without having to show School IDs and veryfying 10 different things. You want to be able to go on long drives down to Florida. You want to buy your own car, you want to feel like you actually are going to be acknowledged.

President Obama and several other politicians changed the lives of millions and he continues the hard work to change the lives of millions more. God bless them.

To all that have experienced things after DACA, please feel free to share your own experience.

To all who are waiting, hang in there and keep DREAMING. We are DREAMERS for a reason. You will get there as long as you keep those dreams alive! Good luck to you all!

Sorry for any errors, posting from my phone.

I just received my EAD card in the mail yesterday and today I went to apply for my SSN it feels unreal to finally have some sense of freedom. I am very excited to soon be applying for my DL.
I hope that I can fulfill all the expectations I have of myself now.

Awesome! Just went in and got approved for a SSN today, which felt great. I also begin my first "legit" job on Monday, which is pretty nerve wracking. Next I'm going to get my own place, open my own bank account, get a license, and a state ID. Independent at 21 (better late than never!)

I dont post much here but i do read the forums daily and I was approved in late Novemver got my SS, id and DL. Before i could finish school like literally days i already knew i was going to be completing my associates in computer information systems:support specialist and landed a job at a Cancer Hospital as An it support specialist. The pay is great I began getting my credit up and pulled out a 2010 ford fusion for my mom and got myself a 2010 ford ranger for daily driving. My 04 mustang gt waste too much gas. My life has completely changed, i've worked so hard for where i am right now. Extremely grateful and happy that i can finally be "normal". Deferred action has been the best thing in a long time for me. My life is finally coming together, i am no longer afraid to drive, i pay my bills, help my mom out and extremely grateful for where i am now. For those of you who are still waiting, your time will come. Just know that it will be all worth when you hold that Id in your hand. It's crazy how something simple as an ID which many take advantage of, could bring us the biggest smile on our faces. God Bless and keep on going with each of you all's endeavors.
Felix

My life has literally not stopped for a second since receiving deferred action. I got a car, got a nice paying job in an office doing administrative work & received my EMT ( Emergency Medical Technician) certification. I am now applying to nursing programs and hoping all goes well. I am so incredibly thankful for this. I could have never imagined that I would be where I am today. If you were to tell me that I would be able to drive legally in only a few months.. I wouldn't believe it for a second. I am now able to travel with my boyfriend and actually feel normal for once. I am so happy for everyone else in this forum because I know that their lives will be so different I just hope everyone makes the best out of these two years!

Glad to hear you are not letting this great opportunity go to waste. I hope 20, 30, 40 years from now we can all look back at this time of our life and remember how we were able to survive and make it and that experience will help us deal with anything else life can throw at us.

I know the feeling ! It's great. I got approved the 22nd of March and immediately applied for my SSN and even passed my written test for my NYS Learners Permit this week. Some kind of normalcy even though I wish my other family members could join in on the happiness and opportunity I know this isn't the end just a great beginning!
