Maybe it has been asked before so I apologize in advance. I've been working with a fake social for a long time, just got approved last week, once I get my new SSN do I have to go tell my new current employer that I've been lying this whole time??

you can try to have them change it. Unfortunately I know two people who tried and they ended end up getting terminated :-/. I personally am just going to look for a new job and leave it at that. I hope it works out for you though!

It's quite a dilemma. If you tell them your situation and they fire you; What will you write in a future application when the question is "Reason for leaving" or "Can we contact your previous employer?" You can't use them as a reference.

I would just try the "I had to change it because of identity theft..." excuse and hope for the best. But it is a personal decision with different options, good luck.

Yeah since you basically lied to them and t hey could have, gotten in trouble for hiring you with out verifying your ability to legally work.

A few people have been fired after changing their ssn and explaning their situation. It all depends how close you are with your employer. But you should be careful what you tell them because the last thing you want them to do is everify you.

it all depends how you trust these people and how close you are with them. There have been posts here about their employers being total cool about it while other people being fired over it.
