Journalists might have gotten the substance wrong. Gotta wait and see the real bill.

My guess is immediate to 5 years tops.

Technically,if the immigration bill forgives all prior unlawful presence and the undocumented individual has this "provisional status" they could be eligible for adjustment in all work and family visa categories inside the US.
I guess its just wait and see, because if its this restricting there will be a lot of unhappy campers.

Goddammit, after all this fuss about DA and DACA, looks like we still gonna have to wait 10 years to see something that remotely resembles a green card. This beats the entire purpose of DACA since the whole point was grant us relief for our situation that's out of our control (being brought here as minors). And now they are putting us in the same queue as the adults.

this is just like an EAD but u can travel. This is kinda pointless unless it has financial aid for dreamers.

There haven't been any details leaked about what pathway DREAMers will have to take. So, everyone take a deep breath and wait until the bill is released next week.

First off, I think there will be something else in the store for dreamers probably close to what the Dream Act was. So take a deep breath you lucky bastards under 30.

For the other 11 million (and me), this is actually a brilliant way to deal with those who "broke the law" without deporting them or upsetting those who were "in line" .

This is saying that they get to stay, not be scared, be able to get work, pay taxes, and have many of the benefits of a green card minus the ability to bring in all their relatives, becoming citizens right away, etc. I'm also guessing in these 10 years, getting arrested and convicted of crimes will be a straight ticket back home too. In the meantime, once the green card backlogs are cleared for everybody else, they'll start adding the survivors to the line for them...

Brilliant.

The part that scares me however is eliminating sibiling petitions. I hope they leave existing applications alone. I've waited for 7 years now...hate to go back to zero. The Visa Bulletin this month also froze the 4th family preference. I wonder if that is a sign.
