Hey everyone! im so glad that i found this site because for the longest time i was struggling with my status. i was born in South Korea and i moved here about 6 years ago. Now i am 18 years old. i have a sister who just graduated from high school. Our family didnt want to become illgal residents. There might be some people, who actually planned to become a illgal residents but we didnt want to. It was alll screwed up when we were introduced to this worthless lawyer. He literally took our money and didnt do anything.

so here are the problems that im struggling with:
1)my sister just graduated and she cant go to college because of her status. If any of you guys have any idea what colleges accept illegal residents, please give some advice.
2)driver's license is probably the biggest problem. i live in kentucky and there are not that many transportation system. if i lived in new york or somewhere with good transportation system i wouldnt even worry about this. I WANT TO KNOW WHICH STATES ALLOWS ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS TO DRIVE. AND ALSO I WANT TO KNOW IF I WILL BE ABLE TO DRIVE IN KENTUCKY.

i have waited and i cant wait anymore. i actually was planning on buying a driver's license from a broker. but i decided not to. please some1 help me!!!!!

Almost ALL colleges accept illegal residents. You still pay the in-state tuition, but don't get the benefit of financial aid.

As for the DL, my best advice is to go to Washington state. I have heard that tons of ppl got their licenses there.

Yes, 95% of the lawyers are useless and evil. If there was one profession of ppl that I hate, this is it.

I understand the lawyer situation. Ours also got the money and took off. I'm considering tracking her down using the Internet and other forms of locating people.

Welcome to the forum

As for your questions:

There is a list of states that give in-state tuition to students in our situation. I know California, New York, Texas are in the list for sure. I'm not so sure about Kentucky. We will have to dig up a little on that one.

As for the driver's licence thing. As of today, very few states give out a DL without proof of residency. And on that comment that Gocchin Sama made about Washington state and that tons of people got their licenses its not true anymore. Yes, Washington state used to give out a DL without proof of legal residency and many people got theirs from there, but a few years ago things changed. Now it is harder and you still need to prove that you live in Washington (ex. a mexican matricula card with a WA address on it). I think that now you need to take a citizen or someone who is legal with you to the DMV, proof that in fact you live in WA, and pass both tests (written and driving) in order to get a WA DL.

When I was on vacation last Nov. in WA i didnt botter with that although some of my friends said that we should at least try to get it. We found out it was too spensive, we needed to brive a buch of people, and we needed to stay in the @ss-cold Washington state for too long to have a small chance of getting the DL.

I hope I have helped with your questions and again, thanks for joing us.

juang just posted a sticky to address the instate tuition part of your question:
http://dreamact.info/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1508#1508

As for a Washington state drivers license, here are the ID requirements:
http://www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/idproof.html

I did not read them to the end yet, but I wouldnt mind a drivers license myself.

No one talks about Oregon any more. What happened there? I'm guessing the same requirements as WA, right?

Anyway, hang in there redradish928, we're almost dead.

Hey Katy i was down in Florida like 3 months ago , i got accepted to University of Central Florida in Orlando, so i was going to a open house. and the thing that sucked was that 1 would pay crazy money cause im out of state and they dont give instate, for driving they asked me for a S.S # so yea its not easy to live down there. i was suppose to move down there but i cant cause its way to expensive. ur best bet is trying to find a community college somewhere in the states that are for instate tuition cause even tho u havent lived there some of em might let u go, cause when i applied to the school im attending now they, didnt care if i was undocumented or not they just wanted my transcrip to see my grade. they were pretty easy

I though that they asked you for a high school diploma from that state to let you have in-state tuition even though you were undocumented.
