You have to be a Permanent Resident or USC to be able to join any branch of the military.

I had just graduated high school. I went to the recruitment office and filled out paperwork and everything... It was going well up until the recruiter saw my "For tax purposes only" social card. I was unable to get an updated card when I went to the SSA as I was unable to prove any legal status. That's when I found out I had absolutely no legal standing in the country that has been my home all my conscious life.

My friend is in ROTC at a University and they told him he could join with DACA after he graduated. But I'm not sure if it was true.

Once and for all: YOU CANNOT JOIN THE MILITARY WITH DACA.

Your friend needs to stop smoking whatever he is smoking, or you need to find other more honest friends.

ROTC stands for reserve OFFICER training corps. Even a green card won't get you a commission as an officer in the United States military. You must be a US citizen.

If he somehow got into ROTC by lying about his US citizenship, good luck getting their status adjusted later on.

I heard you can now run for president with DACA... Haha as was mentioned millions of times before, DACA does not change your legal status in the country, it just prevents you from being deported. That is all.

He didn't lie about his citizenship and another friend of mine in the same situation got into ROTC too.
