yeah, I dont really see the difference between RPI and permanent residency, they allow us to work, and live here safely, I'm still a little fishy about the travel though, but personally, i don't even care about the benefits of the government being on welfare and all that, as long as i can work and have a good job i'll be happy, i don't care for free money from the gov't

application form page 70

Once the XML version of the bill becomes available in a few days, we will be able to link specific points of it. We, as a community, REALLY need to create a bookmark of the important parts. It would be a cool little project.

So if you left after December 2011, you are not eligible for this

Quote:
‘‘(6) ELIGIBILITY AFTER DEPARTURE.—
10 ‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.—An alien who departed
11 from the United States while subject to an
12 order of exclusion, deportation, or removal, or
13 pursuant to an order of voluntary departure
14 and who is outside of the United States, or who
15 has reentered the United States illegally after
16 December 31, 2011 without receiving the Sec17
retary’s consent to reapply for admission under
18 section 212(a)(9), shall not be eligible to file an
19 application for registered provisional immigrant
20 status.

The difference could be discrimination. "Oh, this is the RPI card that all the illegals are getting". And *bam*, you don't get the job because you are not "what the company is looking for."

Does that mean us who self-deported will be able to apply?

‘‘(D) CLARIFICATION OF STATUS.—An
4 alien granted registered provisional immigrant
5 status—
6 ‘‘(i) is lawfully admitted to the United
7 States; and

8 ‘‘(ii) may not be classified as a non9
immigrant or as an alien who has been
10 lawfully admitted for permanent residence.
So our status would lawfully admitted to the United States instead of deferred from being deported?

alright
