Some of us here recently saw the piece on Dateline NBC entitled "In the Shadow of the American Dream." While overall the story was well told and unbiased it did focus mainly on people like our parents who came here to work, as is often the case with any publicity the issue of illegal immigration receives.

Since we are always looking for ways to get our story told on the national stage, perhaps we should write to Dateline to suggest they do a piece on DREAMies. For those of you who emailed Dateline after the show, you may received this response:

Thank you for your E-Mail to Dateline NBC. We are very pleased with the enormous response we are getting. Although we cannot write a personal note to each of you, we do print out our messages, look at them and discuss your comments and reaction, and we do sometimes quote your E-Mail on the air in our 'feedback' segment. If your correspondence is in reference to a specific segment, that letter will be forwarded to the segment producer for review.

If you have a specific story suggestion please send it to:

Also, here are the answers to some frequently asked questions:

How do I order a transcript?
TRANSCRIPTS: Transcripts for NBC News Programs are available for purchase through the Burrell Transcript Service by calling 1-800-777-TEXT.

How do I order a video?
VIDEO TAPES: Only selected segments of our news magazines are available on VHS cassette. For information call: 1-866-NBC-TAPE.

Again, thanks for watching ... and staying in touch !

We are always looking for ways to get attention to our cause, and while we're not guaranteed that they'll do a piece, it certainly is worth a shot. I've completed my letter and encourage you all to take a few minutes to do so also. I'm sure the piece would be interesting enough for Dateline to do especially since the topic is such a hot button issue.
