My EFC is 0. My school (SAC) said they will start issuing the BOG waiver May 1. They will download our dream act applications by the end of this month. I checked my cal grant status and says it's chosen to be under review and to check w my school.

I double checked on the phone at the csac customer service and my gpa was received. I just called the financial aid office and they said they're going to be downloading it in june/july becasue the student aid commision hasnt told them how they are going to process anything. So I'm getting mixed reviews. So she said that they will definitely have the BOG by the end of April just in time for summer school. Awesome.

when you called the customer service did you press the option for the dream act or cal grant? because last time i chose the dream act option 2. and the guy told me to just wait 1-2 weeks since they haven't processed all gpa's for non-sss forms.. if nothing happens till next week i'll just submit a late gpa appeal i guess

where are you going this year?
By the way, 2 year college degree counts towards the Dream Act requirements.
Also, the Cal Grant A is only rewarded to UC, Cal state, or private schools (in California). If you are attending a CC, you are qualified for the BOG fee waivers and the Cal Grant B. However, Cal Grant B is only rewarded to people with low income. It covers books and other expenses so they give you about $1500 a year. They give it directly to you so that's good. When you transfer to a UC or Cal State or private (in CA) after 2 years, you are then qualified for Cal Grant A and Cal Grant B.

i'm so confused because some people here keep telling me that you HAVE to transfer to something that is towards a 4 year degree for the requirement that's why. I wasn't really planning on transferring I was just fine with an associates.

thanks again for this info!

You DON'T have to transfer but it's WORTH it. It's almost the same as your AA and it makes more sense to transfer because there are more opportunities in terms of financial aid/scholarships.
