So I finally have been approved and have my work permit. I am in the process of going to apply for a SSN.
I have a question tho... I am currently working for a company and I am using fake documentation.
Anyone know how you would go about switching the SSN and from a non valid green card to your work permit?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated it.

Thank you everyone btw! This forum gave me hope for 7 months of waiting to be approved

I've read a few postings where kids easily told HR about it and got their SSN updated to their new valid one and just one story recently where a kid got fired after letting HR know they were using a fake SSN#. Be mindful how you proceed. Agree with others to seek a new position, but it depends how ballsy (or 'ovary') you are

You can try & just tell your boss / HR that your SSN is different now & that you want to update your records. Obviously, do not lie to anyone, but you also don't have to provide any information they don't need/ask for.

It's kind of a mind game. If they ask why, just tell them for personal reasons, but don't automatically incriminate yourself by saying you used a fake SSN. If they do ask if the old one was fake, you don't deny it, as that would be lying.

But the idea is to give them enough information so as to avoid those questions. For example, have your SSN card & letter & everything ready with you, and tell them you just want to do update your records asap to avoid any trouble.

Good luck!

well first of all congrats!!!
now about your job....not sure what would be the best way to go about it, but if it was me I would either tell them that you were here on a "work visa" or something and you are working towards your citizenship and you are one step closer and your ssn changed, or just wait till the beginning of next year and fill out an other W4 with YOUR new social....

I changed all my info at my job yesterday. I make pretty good $ and I like the schedule. I'm planning on staying there to help pay for school then find a different job. Anyways I have been there for six years, so I received my ID yesterday so I had the courage to go talk to HR and I said I have to update my info. He said what info? I said social, work card, last name (I got married in July so I got my husbands last name when I applied for DACA) so my perfect excuse was the getting married, thus name change and social too. No questions asked. I filled a new w-4 and put the new info. I was so relieved it went well. Let's hope that's the end of that. Just go in very sure of yourself and act like a boss don't show your nervous and don't say info that's non of their business as a previous post said.
