Hello guys,

So I just got accepted to a school I never thought I would even be accepted to in my life. I also got approved for Cal Grant A which would cover my tuition costs, and I received a 9K scholarship and I'm currently waiting to hear back on some other scholarships. I have never faced a decision like this and I'm in need of some advice, stay home an attend UCI and save a little more money of just suck it up and go to UCLA and pay the cost of housing.

Any advice on past experiences would help alot
thanks

They are both good. But UCLA gives you name recognition. It is really the only difference I see between them and the fact that UCI like other UC's doesn't have big sports teams. I stayed closed to home and I think you get a better experience by moving away. you grow up and learn more about yourself and what you want to do. Your lucky you won't be too far from home and can visit on weekends. If you live in the dorms it will be more expensive than maybe if you find something off campus. Contact IDEAS at UCLA and see if they can hook it up with a roommate connection.

Commuting would definitely not be my choice, thats an hour plus drive without traffic.

Im gonna contact IDEAS at UCLA and see if they have any roommate connections

Yeah..driving from Irvine to LA every day is not a good idea. UCLA is a great school, I think you should move out to LA and go to UCLA. Yes, the rent isn't cheap, it'll probably be around 500-700 dollars a month if you get a roommate (IDK maybe a bit cheaper) but you could cover that with a part time job. I definitely recommend going to UCLA..it'll be waay better on your resume.

Go to UCLA. This is not even a real question. When you get a huge opportunity like this you find a way to make it.

I feared going to U of C due to cost and status and it was the worst mistake I ever made in my life. Go to UCLA.

Go to UCLA!! Live on campus, party it up (but get good grades). You'll have a great time!! Best of luck.

Thank you all!

I seriously want to attend UCLA and what better way to make my parents proud than by showing them that all their hard was for something !
I'm going to try to get in touch with IDEAS at UCLA and try to find someone that might have a room available for the coming year and hopefully find something cheaper than housing on campus.
